The clipper Vriendschap (Friendship) offers a venue for larger groups, young and old. The vessel has ample space for groups of up to 75 people and is an official wedding location in the Waterland municipality. In addition, she is a stable ship, with high railings for safety and good accessibility for people with disabilities. We can provide a wheelchair lift on request. Due to the large, open space and accessibility of this ship, the Friendship is an excellent ship for parties.
In recent years, the ship has undergone lots of renovations. In 1998, the sleeping quarters were removed, creating one large space with a large ship’s bar and lounge. The ship has been given a more modern look in 2015 and 2016. The interior has a light and fresh colour scheme, and the sanitary facilities have been thoroughly modernized. The galley was completely renovated in 2016 and equipped with all facilities, so Marjolein can exhibit all her cooking skills to make both the sailing and the food an enjoyable experience.
The hold offers spacious seating areas, and the portholes ensure that you van also have a view of the water from inside. The large round stove provides a lovely warmth during cooler trips. There are plenty of seats for guests on deck, and during wet weather we can also provide cover over part of the deck. Another plus is the unique anchorage at the ” ‘t Paard (the horse) van Marken” lighthouse.
In 2014, Jos and Marjolein van der Heide had the opportunity to buy the Vriendschap from the former skippers, Koos and Margo Oudhuis. They too fell in love with the elegant lines of the ship, and saw great potential in the space she can provide to accommodate groups. Combined with their klipperaak Vrouwe Frida Cornelia, this couple can carry over 100 people on a relaxed or sportive sailing trip on the IJsselmeer.
