Fortress Island Pampusis an artificial island off the coast of Amsterdam, part of the former 135 kilometres long Stelling (defense line) of Amsterdam. Pampus is a world heritage site and serves as the official visitors centre of the Stelling van Amsterdam.
World Heritage Pampus
Nowadays, the island and its fortifications are open for viewing. The possibilities range from a guided tour of the island and the fortress, a visit to the interactive multimedia exhibition Pampus Xperience, to a very active survival day. The Monnickendam Sailing Charter Fleet will be happy to bring you to this historic site.
In just under an hour, you will travel through 400 years of history in the Pampus Xperience on Fortress Island Pampus. The interactive tour takes you on a journey through time and through the different spaces in the fortress. The Xperience is not just for adults, but also very interesting for young people.
