Afternoon

In the course of the afternoon, in the historical port of Monnickendam, you board one of the ships of the Monnickendam Sailing Fleet. The skipper welcomes you on board the traditional sailing ship; a drink and snack are already waiting. Once on board, cast off for an exciting sailing trip on the Gouwzee and the Markermeer, to the former island of Marken.

End of the afternoon

After a wonderful sailing trip, the ship docks in the Marken harbor. You are met by a guide in traditional Marken costume. During the guided tour you will find out more about the history of this former Zuiderzee-island, and you will get you a good impression of how people used to live here. Your guide will also explain things about their costume.

Finish with a barbecue

After the one-hour tour you step back on board. The crew have prepared a delicious barbecue that you can enjoy in peace. After a short time, we sail back to Monnickendam. A traditional skipper’s dram completes the sailing trip.
